VTrac stands for the variable (V) tracking (Trac), which categorically tracks numbers. The variable refers to one of the digits (ball) drawn in a Pick-3 or Pick-4 game. Using VTrac is a great way to group and reduce, tracking drawn lottery combinations from 10 digits to 5 digits in a logical way. This method has gained popularity among lottery enthusiasts. So, let’s dive in.
The grid below is the VTrac rubric. Each variable from 0 to 4 will have a corresponding mirror variable 5 to 9. If your drawn variable matches one or the other mirror number then the “v” number in that row is what is used.
If your variable is ... |
Then your VTrac # is... |
0 or 5 |
v1 |
1 or 6 |
v2 |
2 or 7 |
v3 |
3 or 8 |
v4 |
4 or 9 |
v5 |
For example, if the number drawn is 5896, then the VTrac number result would be v1452. The number substitution is as follows: 5 = v1, 8 = v4, 9 = v5, and lastly 6 = v2. The preceding lowercase “v” indicates that this as a VTrac number such as, v1, v4, v5, v2 or VTrac number combination, would be v1452.
With this VTrac number, we can now see Pick-4 combinations associated with VTrac number v1452: 0341, 0346, 0391, 0396, 0841, 0846, 0891, 0896, 5341, 5346, 5391, 5396, 5841, 5846, 5891, and 5896.
There are 70 unique VTrac combinations in ordinal order and in that totaling 715 VTrac number combinations. Each of the ordinally sequenced VTrac numbers has 16 Pick-4 number combinations, totaling 10,000 Pick-4 number combinations. Some ordinal VTrac numbers will have more versions than others; however, the associated sums are identical for the VTrac versions in the Versions List, and therefore they are grouped in this way in the list below. There are so many ways to use the VTrac reference in decision making. The following VTrac reference displays the VTrac ordinal version (VT) sorted VTrac, the number of versions (Vers) this VTrac combination has, the Version List of all versions of the VT column and finally, the Associated Sums of all Pick-4 combinations derived from the VTrac.
The use of VTRAC can vary by player and the methods used. VTrac can be used alone or in combination with Low vs High, Odd vs Even, and Sums.
One way to use this tool, is to track the VTrac numbers from draw history to see what “v” number is hot or cold. There are only 5 VTrac numbers; therefore, a VTrac number should not skip for more than five draws. In the example are the past 5 games from the Rhode Island Daily Number Evening draw history as of 09/26/2021.
Some would focus on the missing “v” numbers or play more heavily the more frequent hit “v” numbers. A personal strategy can be developed here.
