I started my IT career as a database developer. After a couple of years, I joined Oracle as a pre-sales consultant. My first project was an Oracle APEX application supporting hospitality events in the UK.
The whole experience was amazing: the connection with my requestor, understanding the business needs, and how easy it was to add functionality to the application without having to write a large amount of code.
More projects on APEX came in, for both internal and external customers, and I basically explored the potential of the low-code platform in my day-to-day job. I believe APEX keeps my curiosity alive, as there are so many areas to learn from. And the good thing is that I was not alone, on my development path, I found colleagues interested in APEX too, sharing ideas and learning from one another easily. The APEX Product team was always supportive and responsive, one of the best experiences I had in Oracle. I was honored to meet a few of the APEX team members at different events in EMEA and got to know the APEX community.
With a lot of enthusiasm toward those interactions, I felt it was time for the next step: public speaking. This is a good way to help the community, interact with them, and learn from them as well. When joining the APEX Development team, I was delighted to meet supportive, dedicated team members who put so much passion into their work and are always looking to make the product better. The level of engagement within the team and the feedback we receive from customers prove that APEX is complete, integrated, and secure. Within the team, I tackled areas like APEX Administration Services, public APIs, and more without hesitation. That's the beauty of software development: new options each day!
In the AI era, APEX unlocks new capabilities for Generative Development that make it easier to build intelligent and relevant applications. Moreover, the latest features give APEX a strong advantage in educating students to become future developers.
