The Siebel Open UI Find feature is delivered in the 2013 innovation pack to enable users to search for any record on any business component in the Siebel database.

Open UI Find aims to provide the following functionality:

• presence of Find functionality across Siebel application
• Amazon like end-user flow
• elimination of overhead encountered with HI/SI samePage feature(related to panes)
• User selection of any find category and blank/field based find operation.
• User drilldown on any Find result
• UI layout customization with minimal effort – javascript and/or CSS changes.

Siebel Open UI Find implementation:

• find/search  tag added in page container swt file
• use case for the above tag is added in uifmwk server code while reading/processing tags from swt file
• control gets passed to client side javascript where PresentationModel is instantiated, Proxy is passed and propertySet is setup
• 1 Physical Renderer(searchLookinPR) for whole find/search thus enabling reuse of real estate
• corresponding PM(searchLookinPM) – responsible for fetching data from server and feeding it to PR
• all intelligence/logic to process server response is in PM with PR acting as UI layout factoring/refactoring .
