Just a simple refresh dynamic action fired on the change of department.
Or click on a category to see a detailed report on the products sold per category. On click a hidden item is set. On change of the hidden item a refresh of the report is done.
Make sure that the report region has partial refresh enabled.
And the region template should have the region id.
